Terms of use

These terms cover this website and the Roost app. They are short because the agreements that matter more are the two sets below, and the care agreement a family and a caregiver sign with each other.

Which terms apply to you

Family terms — if you are arranging care. Roost introduces a caregiver and is not a party to what you agree with them.
Caregiver terms — if you are the one doing the work. You set your own rate, you choose what to take, and Roost is not your employer.

Both are drafts, and both say so on the page. The care agreement itself is a third document: it is between the family and the caregiver, the app generates it from what the two of them already agreed, and Roost does not sign it.

What these terms cover

By using this website or signing in to the Roost app you agree to these terms. Roost Holdings Inc. provides both. Where the family terms or the caregiver terms say something different about the same subject, those win, and where a care agreement says something different again, it wins over all of them.

What this site is not

Nothing on this site or in the app is legal, tax or medical advice. Where a page summarises a general rule, it says so and says to ask a professional about your own situation.

Roost introduces people. It does not employ caregivers, does not set their rates, does not direct their work and provides no care itself. The program guides explain how some states pay for care at home; they are educational, and only a state and its assessors decide who qualifies.

Accounts

You are responsible for what is done with your account, for keeping your password and any second factor to yourself, and for telling us if you think either has been exposed. Office accounts require a second factor at every sign-in. An account can be paused while a safety report is looked at.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

open or attempt to open a record you are not entitled to see;
share your sign-in with anyone, or sign in as someone else;
submit false information on a form, an application or a visit record;
probe, scan or load-test the site or the app without written permission (the security page says how to report something you found);
use the site to send unsolicited messages or to harvest contact details.

Every action in the app is written to a log that cannot be edited, and an account holder can ask what was done to a record of theirs.

Your content and ours

What you write about yourself or the person you care for remains yours, and you give us the right to use it to run the platform, as the privacy policy describes. The site, the app, their design and their text are ours; you may not copy or reuse them beyond what ordinary use requires.

A profile, a photo or a message can be reported from the screen it is on, and a person reads every report. Anything that is not the poster's to post comes down. If you cannot reach the report button, write to support@roost.us with a link to what you are reporting.

Software that assists, people who decide

The app contains software that drafts, suggests and flags. It does not decide. No application is approved or turned down by software; no caregiver is matched to a family without the family choosing; no wellbeing flag is a diagnosis; nothing is charged without a person releasing it. Where a person overrides a suggestion, the reason is recorded. Applicants receive a written notice saying the same on the application page, and it names the state laws it answers to.

Availability

We try to keep the site and the app available at all times, and the status page shows what is working right now without asking you to sign in. We do not promise uninterrupted service. Planned maintenance is announced in advance to the people it affects.
